Dandelion Strategy

Photobucket

It has just recently rained. Now is the time to get a handle on these perennial weeds. Get your dandelion pickers and race your children at digging out those yellow beauties. Remember to pull out as much tap root as possible. Put all the blooms in a bucket and dump in the trash can. Don’t leave the dandelion buds to ripen on your lawn and reseed—they’ll do it, I promise. Don’t compost them either. I’m sure your pile is not hot enough to prevent their germination. Get them now and throughout the summer you’ll only need to touch up with a little broadleaf herbicide directed at them through a pump sprayer. There’s no need to blast your entire lawn with an herbicide. Don’t forget to enjoy your emerald carpet.
